All Minds is a mental health counselling service for children, young people, adults, and families. We provide the opportunity for struggling individuals to talk to mental health professionals in an organisation they feel safe with. All Minds is inclusive to everyone and open to anyone who needs it.

We treat every pupil as an individual and tailor our approach to suit their needs and situation. We only provide services using fully qualified experienced counsellors ensuring all pupils have the very best support available.

For Schools

All Minds provides one to one counselling with play therapy and talking therapy in primary and secondary schools.  Our aim is to improve the resilience, confidence and mental health of the pupils we work with.  We currently provide children and young persons mental health services in several primary and secondary schools throughout Scotland helping pupils to deal with a variety of issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, neglect, loss, trauma, family breakups and many more issues.

Counselling

Our one-to-one sessions provide weekly support to pupils who have an ongoing need for more in depth counselling. Our fully qualified counsellors tailor each session, taking into account a childs age, needs, and situation. For younger pupils we use play therapy to encourage pupils to express themselves in a non verbal way, helping us to get the best idea of how to provide support. We also have group counselling sessions for families.

Self Referral For Pupils

The All Minds Drop In is a safe place for pupils to come and chat during lunch time. We would usually have a permanent nurture space in the school which is available to all pupils on a self referral basis. It’s used to help children express themselves and for the counsellor to offer solution focused therapy to help the child through their situation. Our counsellors make themselves a real part of the school by visiting classes, speaking to staff and walking around the playground from time to time.  This raises awareness of the service and helps our counsellors to be approachable by staff and pupils.

Staff Support/Communication

All Minds leave 30 minutes free at the end of the day to be available for staff.  This allows us to speak to the senior management team with regards to any safeguarding issues that may have arisen and keep them informed of progress etc.  This time allows class teachers to come to us for any support, advice or concerns they may have about pupils in their class.  We can simply be an ear for them or we can also try to give some practical advice to enable them to offer the best support possible to their pupils. We also can arrange staff training sessions for schools.

For Parents and Carers

While working with the children and young people we began to recognize at times the parent and carer may also need that little bit of support. We developed the parent and carers to offer them the space to explore any issues they may be facing in a safe and confidential place. There can be times while we are parenting that we find it hard to take care of our own self-care. By giving this care, it can help then support our children day to day and hopefully make life a little easier.

Over 16s Support

All minds are not only a charity that care only about the children and young people. We are now reaching out with our counselling service to support any individual no matter your age. We have counsellors to support you with the struggles you may be facing in life. This can be done face2face, online or telephone.

If you feel you would benefit from counselling, please get in touch.

Young Persons Counselling

Generally for ages 11-16 we offer one-to-one counselling to young people. This involves building a therapeutic relationship with the young person to create an environment they hopefully they feel they can explore issues they may be having. Hopefully building a positive relationship with every young person who uses the service will help them feel safe to process the underlying issues.

Counselling For Children

For ages 5-11 we offer play therapy.  A child simply cannot express themselves in the way that an adult or even a teenager can.  Through play a child can feel at ease, allowing them to express themselves and really open up about whats going on in their lives. Drawing, playing with toys, wearing costumes or role playing, allows children to explore how they feel the way they do, in a very natural, everyday way. Play therapy can have wonderful results especially as the child gets more and more comfortable with their counsellor.

FAMILY COUNSELLING

All minds offer family counselling to give the space for a whole family approach. There may be times in life that the family are finding it hard to understand one another, struggling with different issues that are appearing in day to day life. Some times it helps with doing therapy together instead of separate to help people feel heard and find solutions together.
