All Minds is a Mental Health charity, which aims to improve mental health and wellbeing by providing counselling from our centres in Kirkintilloch and Falkirk, as well as in several schools across Scotland. All Minds is inclusive to everyone and open to anyone who needs the support we offer.

All Minds aims to help anyone in our local community who needs support with their mental health, specifically by offering play therapy to children, and talking therapy to young people and adults. We are keenly aware that all individuals have different needs, and the same treatment is therefore not suitable for everyone. As such, we try to incorporate different modalities of counselling, as well as an increased number of interactive therapies, such as art therapy, dramatherapy and Lego therapy. We also offer family therapy, and are hoping to branch into offering couples therapy in the near future.

We offer the following mental health support services:

  • Play therapy for children and young people
  • Talking therapy for young people and adults
  • Counselling services for primary and secondary schools
  • Family counselling

We are able to support individuals through all kinds of circumstances and difficulties, such as bereavement, anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional disregulation, suicidal ideation, self-harm, education support, family relationships, and bullying.

If you need support or you know someone who does, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

A child simply cannot express themselves in the way that an adult or even a teenager can. Through play a child can feel at ease, allowing them to express themself and really open up about what’s going on in their life. Drawing, playing with toys, wearing costumes or role playing, allows children to explore how they feel the way they do, in a very natural, everyday way. Play therapy can have wonderful results especially as the child gets more and more comfortable with their counsellor.

Counselling sessions take place in our calm and relaxing therapy rooms. Our approachable counsellors will offer you a place to be heard, and to be supported as you work together through whatever difficulties you may be facing.

Counselling is confidential, and your counsellor will discuss what this means, and any limits to confidentiality, with you in your first session. If you have any additional support needs, please let us know when you contact us, so that we can make arrangements to make suitable adaptations for you if needed.

All minds offer family counselling to give the space for a whole family approach. There may be times in life that the family are finding it hard to understand one another, struggling with different issues that are appearing in day to day life. Sometimes it can be helpful to participate in therapy together, instead of separately, to help people feel heard and find solutions together.

Currently this service is available in Falkirk, but we are hoping to add family counselling to our Kirkintilloch base really soon.

All Minds provides one to one counselling with play therapy and talking therapy in primary and secondary schools.  Our aim is to improve the resilience, confidence, and mental health of the pupils we work with.  We currently provide children and young persons mental health services in several primary and secondary schools throughout Scotland helping pupils to deal with a variety of issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, neglect, loss, trauma, family breakups and many more issues.

One-to-one counselling support

Our one-to-one sessions provide weekly support to pupils who have an ongoing need for in-depth counselling. Our fully qualified counsellors tailor each session, taking into account a child’s age, needs, developmental stage, and personal situation. For younger pupils we use play-based therapy to encourage pupils to express themselves in a non-verbal way, helping us to get the best idea of how to provide support.

Self-referral drop-in sessions

The All Minds drop-in is a safe place for pupils to come and chat during lunch time. We usually have a permanent nurture space in the school which is available to all pupils on a self-referral basis. This space is used to help children express themselves and for the counsellor to offer solution focused therapy to help the child through their situation. Our counsellors make themselves a real part of the school by visiting classes, speaking to staff, and walking around the playground from time to time.  This raises awareness of the service and helps both staff and pupils feel that they can approach our counsellors.

Staff Support/Communication

All Minds counsellors leave 30 minutes free at the end of the school day to be available for staff.  This allows us to speak to the senior management team with regards to any safeguarding issues that may have arisen, and keep them informed of therapeutic progress.  This time also allows class teachers to come to us for any support, advice, or concerns that they may have about pupils in their class.  We can simply be an ear for them or we can also try to give some practical advice to enable them to offer the best support possible to their pupils. We also can arrange staff training sessions for schools.
